Did one of these for a friend based on a repainted toy and decided to have a go at one for myself but with the longer barrel. Also wanted to try and get as
near a chrome finish as I could using plasticote chrome effect paint !!
Aluminium barrel epoxied in place for the longer version
woodgrain effect on the grip using a lighter brown basecoat and streaks of darker brown. This will be laquered after.
mask grip and give a coat of gloss black after primer has had a thorough rub down with 1200 grade wet and dry to get it as smooth as possible. This helps give the final coat a chrome effect.
chrome effect paint ,great stuff but allow an age to dry thoroughly !!
final coat, still drying do not look at for at least a week !!Or leave in raging sunlight if possible , patience is a virtue with this stuff and do not laquer as it tends to dull the finish :o( more to follow when it dries !
