i've recently brought a master repliacs stormtrooper helmet and am well pleased with it for the price, gonna do a few mods. i'm now thinking about
getting a complete armour set and am wondering where to look as there seams to be a massive price difference depending on where you look and type. also is
there a voice changer that really works? thanks

tony is the resident expert so I am sure he will chime in some time
which MR lid did u get? is it the UK exclusive collectors edition (ie MRCE) - I have given mine a complete overhaul before:
after:
important thing with stormtrooper armour is to ask urself several questions wot are u gonna use it for? display? trooping with 501 Legion? personal satisfaction? how accurate do u wanna go? wot kinda budget are u working towards? as a rule - I would avoid ebay for purchasing armour pm me once u have considered some of the above and I can point u in some directions Happy New Year every1!! hi, helmet is a uk mrce same as nate, i am modding it slightly to 501st standard. i'm not looking at spending a fortune on armour and won't spend the £400+ for ebay ones. is there anything for less then £150? i'm making my own blaster from old toy gun with hopefully some good mods and painting |

Ive just paid £274 for an FX armour only, which included armour,strapping,glue and holster, and postage to UK from America (details supplied by Tangod) So at a
£150 budget you may struggle, others maybe able to help you more.....

Try to make a WTB topic over at www.whitearmor.net or www.mepd.net.
Stomper is a member there, and sells them from there as well. Cheers. Rolf. |

Stormtrooping | #230 | ||

Hi everyone
I have just joined this board after I was over at the 501st forum and it suggested that I may be able to find some decent advice here on getting myself some Stormtrooper armour for trooping in. I had been looking into buying this kit, (link below), but thought I should drop someone at 501st an email to see if it was suitable... they said it would not be cleared: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bas...A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318 So I'm hoping that someone here will be able to advise me of a decent kit to purchase, preferably at a decent price ;o) I would like to use it for trooping not just as a prop. I've seen quite a few people mention that it's best to avoid ebay, so maybe someone can point me in the right direction? Any advice offered is most appreciated. Cheers J |

Welcome aboard rottweiller, I see Steve has helped you, I hope you stick around as most people who ask for armour never return here. Join the UKG they have

hi guys,
back from a busy year. Im now rediscovering this forum, and trying to put aside some money for my first Trooper project
Wanted to give some advice to the people who have the "tax" problem. I order quite a lot of stuff (miniatures etc..) from usa suppliers. I have them add the VAT value on the package (USA Vat) , so when the customs check it they have to either: Add a vat value if its a lower percentage then European VAT Refund the difference if its a higher value ( in practice the supplier would have to "Refund" the difference") My father in law used to be a purchaser for a big company, and he says thats the way to do it legally. In practice it means you only have to pay the "difference" in Vat value. And not a full 19 or 21 % |

What do you guys think... | #238 | ||
|
Hi guys,
I am considering my first armour purchase with the overall aim of joining the UKG. I quite like the look of the Authentic Props (AP) armour, as the FX helmet looks (to me) a little odd. It is likely that this armour would set me back approx. £690 including international shipping to the UK. That (to me!) is a significant amount of money and represents 3-4 months of saving. If I am going to enter this hobby I would like to do things 'right' but not go overboard! With that in mind I have some questions: 1. Is that a reasonable price? 2. What's the quality of the AP armour like? 3. What is assembly like? (I know it needs to be trimmed - my main concern is that I'm only 5' 7) 4. What are my chances of being 501st approved with that particular kit? Thank you in advance for your comments and for the help I have already received, Jim

AP Armour | #239 | ||

Hi mate, I've just ordered my AP armour and am waiting for it to arrive. I also intend to join the 501st.
I've been told by a lot of very helpful people on here that it is excellent quality armour. Also Mark, (TK-409) is very helpful too.
He can also supply holsters, gloves, bodysuits etc Where abouts are you from in the UK? Good luck with it... hopefully I'll get to see you trooping sometime :D Cheers J |
