I noticed that on the rebellegion website for the chewbacca costume, the guys states the following;

does anyone know what latex he is using? I am considering the dragonskin but i am unsure about superglueing the hair on. I plan to add all my hair on the
front of the mask using a similar method and i can see super glue causing lots of mess. Please please help. I like the look of dragonskin though

Contact cement will stick to latex but silicone will not let much adhere to it ,thats why its great for molding stuff. You can punch hair in silicone as its a
lot stonger and longer lasting than latex . Maybe try clear silicone caulking in a tube ( the stuff builders use ) as this may stick to silicone. Deffo use
silicone too if you want a moveable jaw as latex will tear in time !!

This project is one of the hardest and im pleased to say its coming on very well.
The face is the most crucial and few have nailed it right. Even lucasfilm got it wrong with the new films! Keep up the good work and great posts. Looking forward to the next instalment cheers  |

Anymore updates, I know it's been a while.
Don't let hair punching intimadate you, it's actually not that bad and the results are really great. Best to avoid the hook method, that takes forever. I punched most of the hairline on Thade, about an inch and a half from the hairline, all of the white beard is punched too.

Wow excellent job there , what method did you use for this ?
Been very lazy with my wookie so no updates at the moment but hopefully I will get some time after septembers prop party. I was planning to do some hair punching around the front areas after glueing the main parts on so i would be very interested to see how you did yours . Oh welcome aboard too

Used one of these, it's a crown punch needle!
You just lay a bunch of hair over the area and punch in the direction you want the hair to grow. I used yak hair but kanekelon hair would be fine for the job and a lot cheaper. I then sealed it on the inside with latex. Video tutorial found here Hair punching. They sell the punch needles too. I am hoping to start a wookie either Chewie or Tarfful later this year.
