Started this thread in replica props so am transfering some of the info over ,you definately need to check these links out if you wanna get hairy
This is from Quothcorus- I've got a few bits and bobs, as its something I have in the pipeline. Theres a Yahoo group you could try- movies.groups.yahoo.com/g...=157761958 Though so far I havent managed to join it. Its possible the owner of the board doesnt visit it very often. Babelfish translation of a German site- babelfish.altavista.com/b...l&lp=de_en (Original site- www.wookiee.de/ ) Unfortunately, Matt Pfingstens site appears to be down now (www.gotwookiee.com) which had some useful info on it. I've also got a lengthy word document with additional info I have gathered on it, some of it from Matts website. If you let me have your email address I'll send it to you. Hope that helps TTFN Jon. |

Heres some helpful hints from maverick 118
(11/11/06 10:58) Reply Re: Wookie costumes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well the Rubies Supreme costume is surprisingly good quality for what they are. It's not a bad bit of kit. The face mask needs an under skull to keep it's shape properly but that's nothing that you can't do quite cheeply or quickly with some poly morph plastic, it's what I've used for my predators under skull. Having Met you at the NSC Steve I'm quite sure if you used a pair of thick soled trainers and a wedge lift you could get about the same height as my Mayhew and still be comfortable, I'll dig around for some pics of my Pred feet lifts, but I used some dense foam as an insole and mounted a wedge of the same foam in the heel, once the glue had dried I inserted a pair of old but comfy trainers and surrounded them with foam to keep them from moving around, It's given me about an extra three inches in height, but I think I could get some more if I sacrificed a little comfort. Hope this helps all you wookies |

I found a site a while ago where someone used the Rubies Supreme and enhanced it with adding hair extensions, it seemed to work well. Cant find the link atm, though.
Hair link- www.hairbraids.co.uk/przj168.htm Another website with Wookiee related info- www.wookies-etc.com/html/chewbacca.html And, Peter Mayhews website- www.petermayhew.com/main1.html TTFN Jon. |

A Wookiee on my shoulder!
![]() As of last night, the sculpt so far. I'm still struggling to smooth it out, though I'm going to reach a point soon when I'll just say soddit and start casting! I'm not totally convinced I have all the dimensions correct- I'm finding it hard to sculpt a naked face when most of the pictures I have are with hair! Gonna do some hair trials in December too (after I have been paid!) to see what sort of density of latch hooking I need to look the biz! TTFN Jon. |

Looking good Jon. Only crit would be having the mouth open, but I can understand having it this way would be of benefit for you're breathing and getting coo, air inside the costume. If you think of making an animatronic version, it'd be best to sculpt the mouth shut, as with the natural way the mouth is once servo'd up you'd be putting a lot of tension on the latex/foam latex/silicone used for the mask itself and would mostlikey either casue it to sag when relaxed and the mouth was open or more likey, to actually tear. Apart from that it's looking proper Bo'

Looking good Jon ,the shape looks about right from the other pics I have seen .Did you make a cast of your face first to get the shape of your eye sockets or are you measuring the distances ? This is where i am wondering where to go !!
Looks like you will be the guy to follow I am thinking of going the rubies cossie for the body so if you do find that link it would be most appreciated Thanks again Maverick for your valued help ,you really are the king of latex .....not sure that came out right !! |

Re: > Wookie(e)! | #7 | ||

thanks! I'm not really sure why I ended up with the mouth open, it made sense at the time! A bit of re-sculpting is in order!
I originally was planning on using a life cast, but instead I found a close fitting facemask that I filled with expanding foam to make the armature as the eye holes were the right distance apart. I bought a set of plaster teeth of Ebay, and included these in the sculpt too, to help get the jaw and mouth area dimesions better. For the suit, I was planning on using latchhook matrix to make the costume out of, and then hook the fake hair into it. It'll take a bit of experimenting to get the right density though. I'll have another hunt for the link, though its not looking too hopeful. TTFN Jon. |

I know in the other thread we've been talking about lifts/stilts, I was just wondering whether anybody has details/pictures on Peter Mayhews suits footwear?
With a chariot wheel in each hand he killed 100 men by his left and 100 men by his right, he did not think it too many.

Aggggghhhhhhhhh CHELSEA BOOTS AGAIN!!!!!
Assume the poppers are to keep the fur from the legs in place and prevent any embarring Chelsea boot showage. And is that cork or wood (as in clogs) as the wedge? With a chariot wheel in each hand he killed 100 men by his left and 100 men by his right, he did not think it too many.
